ANNA LINDH, JOE COX: A STRANGE COINCIDENCE
Anna Lindh was Swedish, left, and favourable to Sweden joining the euro. Minister for Foreign Affairs, she became the Muse for the supporters of the euro. The mother of two young children, she is murdered at age 46 in Stockholm.
Joe Cox was English, left, and favourable to maintaining the United Kingdom in the European Union. Labour MP, she became the Muse for the opponents of the Brexit. The mother of two young children, she is murdered at age 42 in Leeds.
The first murder took place September 11, 2003, three days before the poll.
The second murder took place June 16, 2016, six days before the poll.
Two pathetic victims.
In both cases, the murderers are unbalanced. They had done stays in a psychiatric hospital. The first was of Serbian origin, the second is English. Murderers in the style of Lee Harvey Oswald said François Asselineau, a French politician, President of a small euro-sceptical party, the UPR, who as soon as June 8 envisaged that proponents of staying in EU have recourse to an attack similar to that struck Anna Lindt[1] .
The noise ran as the murderer of Joe Cox, apolitical for some, neo-nazi for other, would have yelled at the time of the murder "Britain first". But the quoted witness denied having heard nothing of that kind. The technicians of communication know that: after a drama, the first word is memorized.
Anti-Brexit press immediately installed the murderer in the role of fanatical supporter of the Brexit. Badly inspired supporter since polls were beginning to turn in favour of the Brexit.
Being against the Europe of Brussels, is this not be nationalistic and therefore Nazi, and therefore potential criminal?
The murder of Stockholm, coming too late probably, had not changed the outcome of the election: The Swedes had refused the euro and feel very well of it today. The murder of Leeds has already reversed the polls in favour of the supporters of Britain remaining in the European Union.
Between completism and naivety
Between completism and naivety, the ridge line is narrow. The coincidence between the two dramas remains troubling.
What is certain, is that the Brexit would destabilize strongly the European Union and that it is one of the centrepieces of the politico-military and economic architecture binding presently the Western world. Obama, more imperial than ever, came to tell the British what they should vote.
Defenders of the Western order are not kidding. Neither the ideologues. The logic of ideologies - and European building claiming to do away with nations, like others wanted to do away with social classes is one -, have always put their logic before any other consideration. They would not be for sure afraid of crime.
If British voters, after saying no to the Brexit, discover one day that they have been manipulated, there is no doubt that Europe will have a taste of blood.
